Filter paper is used to separate solid particles from liquids and gases and keeps the particles both on the surface and inside the paper matrix. Various parameters affect their effectiveness: mechanical particle retention time, adsorption, pH, surface properties, thickness and strength of the filter paper as well as shape, density and quantity of the particles to be preserved.
The fiber material is absorbent and porous. Only the finest materials are used to produce filter paper; cotton linters, alpha-grade cellulose pulp, borosilicate microglass and ultra-pure micro-quartz fibres.
